Hearings and Trials
Individuals are permitted to represent themselves (aka "in pro per" or "in pro se") in the Superior Court and sometimes must encounter a complicated, adversarial court hearing or trial that is coming up in the very near future. The person is frustrated about preparing for the hearing, doesn't adequately understand his or her legal position or feels overwhelmed by the prospect of the litigation. The person in being self-represented may feel overmatched by his or her spouse.
If you have these concerns, Alan R. Silverman will meet with you and provide a professional legal opinion about the status of your case and the most likely outcome. Silverman & Silverman welcomes last-minute referrals.
If time permits, Mr. Silverman may substitute into your case and attempt to stabilize the case, obtain the necessary continuance or represent you at a hearing or trial without a continuance.
Although the law firm is located in San Francisco, Mr. Silverman will travel throughout the state to litigate or mediate your family law case. Mr. Silverman has litigated family law cases in the counties of Alameda, Los Angeles, Marin, Orange, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma and Yolo counties.
