Our counseling approach
Alan R. Silverman uses his unique understanding of mental-health issues to ease the stress of dissolving a marriage or partnership and to encourage you to think rationally and calmly about the complicated issues affecting your Family Court. He assesses interpersonal Family Court dynamics, identifies the areas of strength and dysfunction in the Family Court system and uses this information to resolve or effectively litigate your case. With our eyes always firmly focused on results, we help you take decisive, efficient steps to successfully reach your goals and to preserve your peace of mind during a difficult time.
A Family Court-law specialist certified by the Board of Legal Specialization of The State Bar of California – “CFLS”
Mr. Silverman was and continues to be certified as a Family Court-law specialist by the Board of Legal Specialization of The State Bar of California and is permitted to designate himself with “CFLS”. Certification requires attorneys to participate in a demanding application process testing their skills and knowledge about Family Court law, assessing their experience in Family Court-law procedures and evaluating referrals from other attorneys and judges familiar with the lawyers’ work product, ethics and professionalism.
Focus on alternative dispute resolution techniques
Alan R. Silverman and Claudia Bravo Silverman have education and practice in alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques. ADR typically minimizes expenses and reduces the time required to complete a marital dissolution or to resolve issues that the parties may have, not limited to marital dissolution. Additionally, ADR can be less stressful because you retain more control over the process.
Silverman & Silverman provides advice about settling your divorce using mediation and collaborative divorce ADR methods. To develop a sense of cooperation and cordiality between spouses, we encourage you to consider ADR to resolve parental rights, child support and high-conflict child custody issues whenever possible. In dissolving a domestic partnership, mediation and collaborative divorce provides an effective means for resolving same-gender marriage/partnership issues.
